ACADEMIC TEAM LEADER (ATL)
The Department of Real Estate and Property Management (REPM) conducts teaching programs and research related to the overall built environment and specifically to real estate and property management. The goal of programs run by the department is to create, develop and supply well trained and knowledgeable professionals to both private and public sectors including the newly created County Governments. The real estate courses offered were developed in consultation with key stakeholders drawn from industry, the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK) and government ministries and agencies. Real estate constitutes an important part of national economies, and is a significant part of national assets given by real properties and estates. TUK’s Bachelors of Real Estate puts emphasis on practical real estate education and training by incorporating industry based learning (IBL) and external attachment programs. Both Real Estate degree and diploma programs are designed to meet the ever increasing need and challenges in property valuation, management and development of real estate in response to the economic and social aspirations envisaged in Kenya vision 2030 blue print that seeks to transform Kenya into a middle income economy through efficient use, development and management of the land resource and providing the physical space and infrastructure necessary to do business and provision of adequate shelter for all. The programs are designed to provide students with the essential learning components to result in skills drawn from learning economics, valuation, construction, investment, law, planning, management and development. Graduates of these programs find employment in the Real Property – marketing, agency, real property valuation, assessment of value and risk, investment appraisal, facilities and estate management. Others join the academic and research fields.
